False social media claims about Chinese help in Gaza

London: WestVU has observed hundreds of videos and millions of views regarding a false claim that Chinese cargo planes, surrounded by Chinese fighter jets, entered the Gaza Strip to drop food and supplies.

Multiple fact-checking sources, including DW, Reuters, and AFP, have debunked viral social media claims suggesting this. Videos purportedly showing Chinese aircraft delivering aid to Gaza were actually footage from a joint military exercise between China and Egypt called “Eagles of Civilization 2025,” conducted in April–May 2025, featuring Chinese aircraft flying over the Giza pyramids. Other clips claiming to show Chinese airdrops were either old footage from 2024, often depicting U.S. or UAE airdrops, or unrelated to Gaza.

China has provided humanitarian aid to Gaza, such as 60,000 food parcels sent via land through Jordan in February 2025, and a $3 million donation to UNRWA in August 2024, but there is no credible evidence of Chinese airdrops in Gaza. Official statements from the Gaza government and UNRWA confirm China was not among the countries conducting aerial aid deliveries.

In addition to that, U.S. C-17 and C-130s dropped over 35,700 U.S. meals ready to eat and 31,800 bottles of water into Northern Gaza, an area of great need, allowing for civilian access to the critical aid. The DoD humanitarian airdrops contribute to ongoing U.S. and partner-nation government efforts to alleviate human suffering. However, that was hapened in March 2024.

So, those videos are more likely a part of anti-american propaganda to spread hate. We observed Gazan had appreciated Trump Administration as the Trump administration has authorized $30 million in funding for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an American-led, Israeli-backed group that distributes food in Gaza. So, the new video propoganda might try to defuse those real trends in social media as social media has been used as modern psychological warfare.
