Sri Lankan former head of state “Ranil Wickramasinghe” was arrested and produced in front of court on last 22nd of August 2025. He is one of the prominent westminister style diplomats that follow classic diplomatic values in Asia which is rare in nowadays. So, his arrest sent shockwaves across the island nation and the World diplomatic arena.

- Right after his detention, Ex Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed expressed his concern over his colleguea in World political arena. He said he is expecting to see he is returning home.
- Famous Indian diplomat, Former Undersecretary of UN, Indian Lokh Sabha member, also the chairman of Indian Lokh Sabha External Affairs committee Dr Shashi Tharoor also expressed his concern the situation over apparently a trivial matter and he said the RW should be treated with respect and honour no matter what.
- Former Afghan Ambassidor to Colombo M. Ashraf Haidari also urged Sri Lankan government to release Ex-President Ranil Wickramasinghe. He stated his concern over the matter via his X account.
- Former Norwegian dipomat Erik Solheim also shared his concern and said the Ex-President RW must not be treated this way over unimportant mattters instead of concerning serious matters in the country.
