Australia expels Iranian ambassador over findings of orchestrating terrorist attack in Australia

Australia has given Iranian ambassidor in Canberra seven days to leave the country over allegedly iran backed terrorist attacks last year. Intelligence services linked Iran to an arson attack on a cafe in Sydney in October last year, and another on a synagogue in Melbourne in December, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told a press conference on Tuesday. Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) had conducted indepth investigation about these incidents. Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (Asio) chief Mike Burgess noted that there are suggestive evidance to link this Iranian terrorist plot is linked to several other terrorist attacks in Australian soil. As a result of thos findings, few diplomatic shakedowns happened and here are the key facts.

  • Canberra suspended its embassy in Tehran and withdrew their all diplomats from Tehran until further notice.
  • Australian government ordered Iranian Ambassador in Canberra Mr Ahmad Sadeghi and three other officials to leave the country within 7 days notice period.
  • Australian government named The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
  • Australia has announced serious travel advise to its citizens to not to Travel Iran. And also they added all Australians currently in Iran should consider to leave the country immediately.
  • Iran denys the accusations.
  • Israeli foreign mission in Canberra announced its appreciation over the recent actions against Iran.

Australia and its stance was critized by Israel PM Netanyahu a week go and Australia had announced their willingness to consider to recognize Palestine as a nation. However, recent findings may have affected on that stance over recent developments in Australia’s national security.

Australia did not end its diplomatic ties with Tehran entirely. However, the relationship between Canberra and Tehran is seriously shaken off. Some media had reported this incident, linking it to Israel’s political pressure over its allies. But the national security of Australia is at risk and It is natural to see PM proritising country’s security over being Politically correct.
