Indian Ocean Policy: Strategic Policy Analysis Volumes II & III Launched with Global Insight

The launch of Strategic Policy Analysis Volumes II & III took place at the BMICH, Colombo, gathering an audience of senior diplomats, economists, and security specialists for an evening that underscored the importance of informed policy dialogue in an increasingly complex world.

Keynote contributions were delivered by Admiral (Dr.) Jayanath Colombage (Former Navy Commander of Sri Lanka / Former Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka / Former Sri Lankan Ambassidor to Jakarta) and Ms. Subhashini Abeysinghe (Research Director – Verité Research) , setting the stage for a wide-ranging discussion on strategic and economic security challenges.

Admiral Colombage highlighted that Sri Lanka’s stance on India’s interest in Indian Oceanic power is quite clear and stable.

The introductions to the new publications were presented by Mr. Umesh Moramudali and South asian defence analyst Mr. Nilanthan Nirulthan, with the latter receiving notable recognition for his role in shaping the discourse of the volumes. Nirulthan’s contributions highlighted the need for deeper policy-oriented scholarship that bridges domestic concerns with global security imperatives.

The symbolic presentation of the publications was made to Ambassador Prasad Kariyawasam, former Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka, marking the culmination of the event and underscoring the diplomatic weight of the discussions.

Notably, the event also saw the participation of international media figures. Their presence underlined the global media interest in the work and reflected WestVU’s commitment to covering issues of strategic and defence relevance at an international level.
