Nepal has banned the controversial messaging app Telegram, citing a rise in online fraud and money laundering, the country’s telecom regulator said on Friday.
Telegram is a controversial entity as it isn’t operating as a business and its objectives aren’t quite clear. Telegram is often accused of its openness for terrorism, human trafficking, money laundering, drug dealing, women and child abuse and all kind of illegal activites.
Even some European Union members like Spain and Norway also banned telegram which are usually considered as most progressive nations. The newest country to ban telegram is “Nepal” in the list.
